Children are required to attend school from the start of the term following their fourth birthday. All of our new starters begin school in the September following their fourth birthday. After Christmas we begin our transition programme. This includes opportunities for the children to visit school, school staff visiting children in their nursery settings, home visits and parent information evenings. We have full week of transition in July where all of the children have the opportunity to come to school for the week and experience all aspects of school life. We have found that by investing in the transition process in the Summer term, children are ready and well-prepared to start school in September.
Admission applications are made to North Yorkshire County Council who then allocate places and advise school and parents in the April prior to starting school.
If you are considering taking a school place at Hackness, you are warmly invited to visit us, meet the team and see our unique approach to learning.
