Welcome to Class 2!
Here you will be able to find out what we are doing this year and how you can help.
The Class 2 team:
This is just to let you know what we will be learning about this half term and to give you a few ideas if you would like to carry on the learning journey at home.
Maths: Decimals (dividing 1 by 10 and 100) and rounding decimals from one decimal place.
Roman Numerals from I to C or 1 to 100.
Multiplication (Please continue to use Number Gym at home)
Addition and Subtraction (formal written methods)
We will have a focus times table every week this term, going in this order: eights, nines, sevens, threes, fours, sixes, fives.
Literacy & Science: Our class text for science and literacy is The Incredible Book Eating Boy and we will be doing lots of cross-curricular work on digestion, science writing and also book reviews and newspaper articles.
For PSHE we will be continuing to look at healthy eating and a healthy mind-set about our bodies.
If you would like to help your child with literacy our grammar focus will be apostrophes for contraction and possession and punctuating direct speech. We will be launching a special Grammar Detectives initiative, so watch out for that but until then please just keep encouraging your children to read!!
For science and PSHE you could look at food packaging including the traffic lights for nutrition and talk about what those mean.
Our topic this term is journeys, in the broadest sense. However, in Geography this will be taken literally and we will be studying different climates and habitats, focussing eventually on forests around the world.
In Religious Education we will be considering life journeys for different religions, beginning with Christianity and progressing to looking at Hinduism and Islam.
On Wednesday afternoons for this term we will be doing Art with Mrs Venus.
PE continues to be on a Monday afternoon so please remember kits! However, our classroom is rather compact so please do keep PE bags as small as possible :-)
